Death Of A Man

Today, I, along with many, mourn the loss of Sean Taylor, Safety for the Washington Redskins. Another violent and senseless death. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and fans everywhere. The following is a poem I wrote on this sad day:

Man
Young man,
you grew up when your daughter was born,
smiling while you spoke of her.

Private man,
you were often misunderstood,
but respected by friends and foes alike.

Tell me,
who will roam the secondary like you did,
hungering for the ball like it was a big oval piece of chocolate
that nobody should have but you?

Big man,
you liked to hit hard,
as are we by your passing.

Condolences can be given online here. May we continue to work for a world where all of us can live and play together in peace.
