(def): 1. (n) a turtle, snake or other such creature when it is attempting to cross a road or highway. 2. (n) one who engages in the compassionate yet somewhat dangerous activity of stopping the car in the middle of the road, getting out, and moving said slow movers out of harm’s way. 3. (n) a metaphor for living. 4. (n) a wordpress blog.
I am a big fan of games and grew up playing lots of games in the car when we traveled. I thought it would be fun to list my favorites, put links to resources on the web, and give you the opportunity to add your own. Happy traveling!

The Alphabet Game
The object is to be the first person to make it all the way through the alphabet starting at A and ending with Z. Players look at signs beside the road or anything with letters (sometimes we would count license plates and signage on vehicles although that was pushing it a little). Players have to be honest. We played it silently with periodic checks to see where everyone else was at. Suspense!!!
Another variation is to start at Z and go backwards.
Just a note: Don’t play with my mom. She used to beat us every time!
We played this at a recent birthday party for a friend. It can be played anytime and anywhere and as many times as you want.
One person tries to think of something totally random. Everyone else gets a TOTAL of 20 chances to guess the totally random thing. They cannot ask any questions or receive clues. They just guess something random. Period. Nothing else. That’s the game.
This is an oldy but a goody. Punch Buggies of course are VW bugs. We don’t do the punching. The first person to say “Punch Buggy, No punch back” gets the car. Here is how we score it:
Old style (original bug):
Any color 2 points
Black or white 4 points
A black convertible 6 points
A white convertible 6 points
New style:
A black convertible 4 points
A white convertible 4 points
Black or white 2 points
all other colors 1 point
